ENTRY GUIDELINES
1. HOW DO I ENTER? All entries will be accepted online through Emmy® Express. Please visit the chapter website at www.natasmid-atlantic.org and look for the “Emmy® Express” link to submit your entries online. If you wish to join the Academy to receive discounted entry fees for the 2011 Emmy® Awards, you can renew your membership or join the NTA at the time of submitting your entry.
2. WHAT FORMAT SHOULD I USE FOR MY ENTRY? Only DVD-R entries will be accepted. TWO exact DVD copies should be submitted for each entry.
3. WHAT DO I INCLUDE IN MY ENTRY? Entries must be submitted exactly as aired. Additional audio or video material may not be added. “Series” entries must be on the same DVD. All commercials must be edited out. All entries must include a 30 second clip at the end of the entry, for use in the Emmy® Show ceremony. You must submit TWO copies of your entry labeled on DVD (or with a copy of your entry form).
4. WHAT SHOULD I INCLUDE WITH MY ENTRY? All entrants must submit a printout copy of a completed form and the applicable fee with their entry. Any entries received without proper payment will be subject to a $25 re-processing fee.
5. HOW MANY TIMES CAN I ENTER? Each entrant is permitted one entry in each news and program category plus six additional entries which may go in any category. Please refer directly to the rules for entering craft achievement categories.
6. CAN I SUBMIT THE SAME WORK IN TWO PLACES? Any single piece of work may be entered in only one news or programming category. However, Station Excellence, News Excellence and Community Service are exempt from the cross filing rule. You may also include work you have entered in news and programming categories in the designated Craft Achievement categories.
7. WHAT ABOUT ENTERING SEGMENTS OR PACKAGES FROM FULL LENGTH PROGRAMS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN ENTERED ELSEWHERE? Segments or packages from full length programs or newscasts entered in news and programming categories may also be entered in “feature” categories providing when the segments provide different content and are produced by different staff members. Also, the segment may not constitute more than 33% of the full length program or newscast.
8. CAN REPACKAGED OR REFORMATTED MATERIAL BE PART OF AN ENTRY? Repackaged or reformatted material previously broadcast in another form may not constitute more than 33% of an entry. If your entry is questionable, proof must be provided.
9. HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN BE LISTED PER ENTRY? News and programming categories allow a maximum of seven entrants per entry. Entrants must be those directly responsible for the entry production.
10. CAN I PURCHASE STATUES OR ADD NOMINEES LATER? Statues are never available for purchase. Only the individuals listed on the entry form are eligible to become nominees. (see “Award Ownership” above for more information). A Nomination Certificate will be given to each listed contributor on a nominated entry. Participants in Emmy® honored entries may purchase personalized gold-embossed Production Certificates, which recognize their creative contribution, for $25. Stations/Companies may purchase duplicate Emmy® Statues for their place of business to recognize their employees for $300. Please contact the office to order.
11. WHERE DID THE SEPARATE CATEGORIES FOR ADVANCED MEDIA GO?
Plain and simple, they are not needed. Separate categories for Advanced Media are an artificial distinction. A distinction that has little relevance in today's broadcast environment. It does not matter if a story is broadcast, cablecast or webcast if the story is of Emmy® quality. The long and the short of it is that all of the categories are now open to Advanced Media entries. News - Programming - Individual Craft - a lot more options to choose from.
12. WILL MY ENTRY BE RETURNED? Winning entries become the property of NATAS/Mid-Atlantic Chapter. All other entries may be claimed no later than October 15, 2011, after which entries will become the property of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter and may be donated.
13. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: For programs exceeding the category time limit, entrant must submit a shortened version that meets the program time limit for the category. A maximum of 3 edits is permitted to bring longer programs to the required time limit.

Only the individuals listed on the entry form are eligible to become nominees or receive statues.
